Draw for the 2004-05 Basketball Euroleague was held at the historic Noviy Manezh exhibition hall in Moscow, the same city where the Final Four will crown a Euroleague champion next spring. Serbia-Montenegro's champions will play in Group A against Skipper Bologna, Efes Pilsen, Adecco Estudiantes, Cibona VIP, Olympiacos, Prokom Trefl and Real Madrid.
Group B: Maccabi Tel Aviv, Montepaschi Siena, Zalgiris, Barcelona, Union Olimpija, AEK Athens, Scavolini and Adecco Asvel
Group C: CSKA Moscow, Tau Ceramica, Benetton, Pau-Orthez, Panathinaikos, Ulker, Unicaja and Opel Skyliners.
The regular season begins officially on November 3. Two days prior to that, on November 1, the start of the season will be celebrated with a special opening game between Zalgiris and defending Euroleague champion Maccabi Tel Aviv in Kaunas to mark the 60th anniversary of Lithuania's signature club.
