The UEFA Executive Committee met in Thessaloniki today and named the hosts of the finals of the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League in 2028 and 2029.
Serbia has been awarded the honour of hosting the finalists of the Europa League, Europe’s second-tier club competition, at the National Stadium in Surčin in 2029.
The same year, Barcelona will host the Champions League final, while Budapest will host the Conference League final.
The Football Association of Serbia stated that, following a decision of the UEFA Executive Committee, the capital of Serbia has been entrusted with organising one of the most important matches in European club football, which will take place at the new National Stadium.
The Football Association of Serbia expressed its gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Sport, of which the latter brough together and coordinated the work of other ministries and state institutions involved in preparing the bid and securing the necessary guarantees.
The project team of the National Stadium, composed of representatives of the Serbian Construction Directorate, played a vital role throughout the process.
