Zoran Loncar
Loncar told a press conference that the consultations will start as soon as the text of the resolution is adopted by the state negotiating team.
He explained that consultations, led by Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Slobodan Samardzic, should result in unity within parliament about the Kosovo issue.
Loncar repeated the government’s strong rejection of a new, fifth US-European resolution on Kosovo as it is based on the plan drafted by UN Special Envoy Martti Ahtisaari and is contrary to UN Security Council Resolution 1244 which guarantees sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia.
According to him, the position of Belgrade is that negotiations on the future status of the province should resume immediately and that a new resolution in the Security Council should be adopted only when the parties reach a compromise.
He stated that the government supported the initiative of Serbian Patriarch Pavle to abolish VAT on baby food, equipment and clothes.
Loncar confirmed that the government decided to set up a working body that will deal with all issues related to the problem of the low birth rate in Serbia.
Predrag Bubalo
Serbian Minister of Trade and Services Predrag Bubalo said that the government at today's session examined the signing of an agreement between the public road company "Putevi Srbije" and the European Investment Bank (EIB) on financing the project of reconstruction of Gazela Bridge in Belgrade.
Speaking about agricultural subsidies adopted today by the government, the Minister explained that their purpose is not only the realisation of the agricultural budget for 2007, but also stimulation for having permanent planted areas, which will be a measure of development once Serbia enters the EU.
Bubalo said that the government adopted today several decisions in the field of the economy and regional development, such as launching the initiative for privatisation of public company Information Centre Kikinda, use of subsidies in the Serbian Tourist Organisation, the Programme of distribution and use of funds for crediting the lease of machines and equipment and the Programme of distribution and use of subsidies to public non-financial companies and organisations from the 2007 state budget.
The Minister said that the summer break will not be felt in the work of the Serbian government because all ministers will only take short and working annual leaves.
The government will not hold sessions for one or two weeks at most.
