Djelic said that UNDP, in cooperation with the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) set aside $800,000 in the past two years for preparation of the sustainable growth strategy.
Preparation of the strategy's draft, which is one of the preconditions for the beginning of talks on Serbia's full EU membership, will be completed by September 15, and the strategy itself should be adopted by year-end.

Djelic said that some 300 experts are included in the preparation of the strategy, which began in 2005, and it is estimated that the public discussion on the strategy's final version should last until the end of this year.
An international conference on environmental protection is scheduled to be held in Belgrade in October. That will be the chance for Serbia to get support for projects related to sustainable growth, but also to raise citizens' awareness of the importance of their contribution to preservation of the environment, poverty reduction and the country's economic development.
