At a press conference held on the occasion of the conclusion of a meeting of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe’s (SP SEE) Business Advisory Council, Dinkic said that the construction of new thermoelectric power plants and the transnational gas pipeline through Serbia are the most significant investment projects.
He said other considerable investments may be anticipated in the infrastructure sector, primarily regarding the construction of Corridor 10 which should be completed before the current government’s term in office ends.
According to Dinkic, Corridor 10 may help intensify regional cooperation with Bulgaria and Macedonia, as well as increase the volume of traffic passing through Serbia, which is very important for attracting new investment to the country.
He added that the Nikola Tesla airport, as well as the development of telecommunication networks, should also be important investment projects.
Speaking about privatisation of large state-owned systems, the Minister said at the meeting of the Business Advisory Council, representatives of the Stability Pact were briefed on the Serbian government’s plans to privatise the Serbian Oil Industry, the airline operator JAT and JAT’s technical sector JAT Tehnika.
After the conclusion of the gathering, in which representatives of the Serbian government and Serbia’s private sector also took part, President of the SP SEE Business Advisory Council Georg Brodach said that positive trends are reflected in a thought-out fiscal policy, continuation of structural reforms, stability of the currency exchange course and reduction of the inflation rate.
Brodach said that the Business Advisory Council acknowledged the positive trends in the Serbian economy and endorsed Serbia’s efforts towards EU accession and harmonisation with EU legislation.
He also said that in the upcoming period Serbia should add emergency infrastructure investments to its priorities.
