The submission of the candidature completes all technical requests; an elaborate on Belgrade was submitted as well as the gifts with Universiade 2009 logo, Head of the Serbian Sports Directorate Aleksandar Sostar told in a telephone statement for the Serbian government’s official website.
The FISU will make a final decision on the city host on January 10, 2005, Sostar said, adding that Belgrade’s prospects to win the organisation of this championship are good. There is a load of work ahead of us in the next six months so that Belgrade could be presented as the city host in a right manner, Sostar said.
Apart from Belgrade, cities that applied for the candidature to the FISU are Monterey, Mexico, and Poznan, Poland.
The Serbian government delegation included Head of the Serbian Sports Directorate Aleksandar Sostar, President of the Serbia-Montenegrin University Sports Federation Sinisa Jasnic and Head of the Serbian government’s Office of Media Relations Srdjan Djuric.
