Director of the Clinical Centre of Serbia Vojko Djukic said at a press conference held at the Serbian government after the signing of the agreement that this donation will be used for the purchase of state-of-the-art instruments that are necessary for work of the Institute for Pulmonary Diseases and Tuberculosis of the Clinical Centre of Serbia.
Djukic specified that the medical equipment, worth €58,038 will include ten patient monitors, a bronchoscope, electrocardiogram, defibrillator and an aspirator.
Director of "Dragisa Misovic" clinical centre Djordje Bajec specified that the Japanese government's donation to this institution, worth €69, 374 will be used for equipping the gynecology and obstetrics ward which stopped working in 1999 but will re-open owing to the Serbian Ministry of Health and the Japanese government.
Director of the Pirot health centre Radovan Ilic said that this institution will receive aid worth €72,542 that will be used for the purchase of four patient monitors, a digital microscope, cryostat, automatic tissue processor and an ultrasound device.
Charge d' Affaires of the Japanese Embassy to Belgrade Teruhiko Sinada said after the signing of the agreement that the Japanese government helps the Serbian health sector so that it could contribute to more efficient care for the health of citizens. Sinada recalled that Japan's aid to Serbia since 1998 totals $198 million.
State Secretary at the Serbian Ministry of Health Nevena Karanovic said that the financial aid which the Japanese government has provided to Serbia in the field of health care has so far been mostly used for equipping the four clinical centres.
She added that in the past three years the Ministry of Health has set aside over RSD 94 million for investment maintenance and equipment for "Dragisa Misovic", RSD 5.3 million for the Pirot health centre and RSD 800 million for the Clinical Centre of Serbia.
