She told a press conference that regional cooperation is very important especially in terms of the fight against children trafficking but also in terms of exchange of experiences and professional cooperation.
She stressed that this first official meeting of the Serbian government’s Council for Children’s Rights and the Council for Children’s Rights of Bosnia-Herzegovina could be an initiative to all governments to establish this cooperation and to promote children’s rights.
The Council for Children’s Rights was established in 2002 with the aim of implementing the National Action Plan for Children, whose priorities are poverty reduction of children, quality education, better health, improvement of position and rights of disadvantaged children, children without parental care, protection of children from abuse, neglect, misuse and violence.
According to her, the Council started cooperating with UNICEF and “Save the Children” offices from the UK and Norway this year.
President of the Council for Children of Bosnia-Herzegovina and advisor at the Republika Srpska Ministry for Family, Youth and Sport Slobodan Nagradic explained that children of fallen soldiers are a particular problem in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
He added that the Council for Children organised a conference on abuse of children in election campaigns, after which this form of abuse in Bosnia-Herzegovina was substantially reduced.
