Dimitrijevic told a press conference that the promotion campaign will last four months and advertisements of 40 seconds will be aired more than 500 times. He did not say precisely how much the four-month long campaign will cost, but stressed that it was the most favourable offer in the region.
According to Dimitrijevic, the advertisements will promote not only the characteristic value system of Serbia, which consists of tradition, mentality, hospitality, but also geographic features such as the Balkan and Danube.
The Minister said that this campaign on CNN is significant due to political, economic and security reasons, and added that it also shows that Serbia has entered the club of acceptable countries.
Dimitrijevic stated that it is planned that some €5 million be allocated from the National Investment Plan for branding and promoting Serbia as a tourist destination. He explained that €3.5 million has been set aside thus far for several projects, adding that the entire sum is not intended for the campaign on CNN.
Director of the Serbian Tourist Organisation (TOS) Miodrag Popovic pointed to the fact that CNN is a channel watched in over 212 countries, by more than a billion people, and expressed satisfaction with the contract because it is well-timed with an optimal number of advertisements per day.
The CNN Vice President in charge of commercials sale said that Serbia is on its way to being promoted at the local and global level and stressed that in this way, Serbia will not only attract tourists, but foreign investors too who will make the country an even better place to live and have fun in.
