Tadashi Nagai, left, shakes hands with Milan Parivodic after signing an agreement
Parivodic explained that the aim of the project, whose total value is $10.1 million, is to improve Belgrade’s water supply and sewage system.
He recalled that in the first phase, $6.3 million was used in the purchase of equipment and data processing and control management software.
Parivodic also expressed hope that the second phase will be completed by March 2007.
The Japanese government is among the largest donors to Serbia with $94 million in donations since the democratic changes, the Minister recalled.
The funds donated by Japan were used to buy buses in Belgrade, equip clinical centres, repair Bajina Basta hydral plant and for technical assistance, he noted.
Nagai expressed satisfaction with the fact that the water in Belgrade will be of higher quality thanks to Japanese technology.
