The Serbian government held a thematic session today, which was attended by President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and Speaker of the Serbian Parliament Ana Brnabić, at the invitation of Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc.

The session looked at key issues of strategic importance for the Republic of Serbia, with special emphasis on the overall political and economic situation in the country and the world, as well as the implementation of development and infrastructure projects of national importance, including the Expo project.
Macut said that at today's session a conclusion has been made on five key elements that members of the Government will focus on in the coming period.
Concluding the session, he pointed out that these five elements relate primarily to the rapid inclusion of a major national project – Expo 2027.
The conclusions are that in the future, work will be done on energy issues, education and science, health and military issues, i.e. the establishment of structural elements for the introduction and service of military service and the modernisation and strengthening of the army, Macut stated.
During the discussion at the session, Macut said that there are many things in which Government members need to speed up their work and added that a lot has been done in Serbia in the previous period.
When it comes to energy, he stated that the members of the Government decided to conduct an analysis of the energy situation with an emphasis on nuclear energy, adding that changes to the law are also necessary.
According to him, it is necessary to work further in the health sector and hold talks on the issue of the list of medicines and their reduction in price.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali stated that so far 132 countries have confirmed their participation in Expo 2027 and that ticket sales will begin in Serbia and around the world on 15 May.
Contracts have been signed with 41 countries, another 16 contracts are ready for signing, and contracts with other participants will be signed by 1 April, he said.
Minister for Public Investment Darko Glišić stated that his team most often encounters problems with drinking water and added that last year RSD 1.4 billion were invested in solving this issue.
At the same time, Glišić pointed out that the water supply network installations are 50 to 60 years old, and that there are losses of 50 to 80 percent of water in the water supply.
Speaking about investments in healthcare, Glišić stated that the design of the Narodni Front and Bežanijska Kosa maternity hospitals is underway, and that work is underway at the Višegradska maternity clinic.
Vučić assessed that the world will not be more peaceful in 2026, but will rather be a much more problematic place to live than it was in 2025.
The engagement of all state bodies is needed in what has been established as the highest priority - preserving peace and stability in the country, Vučić emphasised.
He proposed forming an operational team and strengthening capacities so that Serbia could progress faster on its European path and so that things could be done much faster where possible than before.
The President of Serbia stated that it is undeniable that a lot has been done in the field of healthcare, but that there are things like the procurement of necessary ambulance cars that have not been resolved yet and instructed Minister of Health Zlatibor Lončar to speed up things regarding solving such problems, in order to strengthen the health system.
The President of Serbia emphasised that the main topics for Serbia are Expo, energy, health, agriculture and education and science, and said that we must boldly pursue reforms and show vision.
