At a press conference, Milosavljevic explained that the certificate issued by the SGS confirms that the Agency has harmonised its work with international standards which guarantee better control and quality of medicines.
He stressed that the Agency, founded in October 2004 in line with the Law on medicines and medical equipment, has thus received confirmation that its work is in accordance with international standards.
According to Solarevic, the certificate proves that the Agency, as a national regulatory body, operates in a satisfactory way from the viewpoint of patients, health experts and producers and distributors of medicines and medical equipment.
Ukropina said that the certificate also means that the Agency can now be placed in the group of reliable service suppliers, such as IBM, Sony or Coca-Cola.
He also recalled that the SGS assessment team inspected the Agency in early August and sent their report to Switzerland. The certificate was then issued on account of their report, he added.
