Serbia makes winning debut over Czech Republic

The Serbian national football team won a friendly game against the Czech Republic last night in Uherske Hradiste with three goals to one. The match was part of the preparations for qualifications for the 2008 European Championship and is Serbia's first appearance at a match as an independent nation after the split with Montenegro.

Serbian shooters were Danko Lazovic, Marko Pantelic and Aleksandar Trisovic in the 42nd, 54th and 70th minute respectively, while Jizi Steiner gave the goal for the Czech Republic in the 3rd minute.

Serbian team's selector Javier Clemente began the match with players as follows: Stojkovic – Markovic, Lukovic, Stepanov, Bisevac – Duljaj, Ilic, Koroman, Stankovic – Lazovic, Pantelic.

Serbia will begin qualifications for the 2008 EC on September 2 when it is to meet with Azerbaijan, and opponents in the group will be Portugal, Poland, Belgium, Finland, Armenia and Kazakhstan.
