Slobodan Lalovic and Zoran Loncar
Lalovic said that the government decided not to abolish the Institute for Education in Kragujevac, due to be closed in August this year.
Serbian Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Zoran Loncar said that following the decision of the parliament from June 5 concluding that the Republic of Montenegro had become independent, the
Serbian government decided to recognise Montenegro as an independent state.
According to Loncar, conditions have been made for the Serbian government to recognise Montenegro on behalf of the Republic of Serbia and establish diplomatic relations, which will contribute to the development of friendly and good neighbourly relations.
Loncar said that the government decided that Montenegrin university students will have equal status with citizens of the Republic of Serbia. The tradition of Montenegrin students getting their higher education in Serbia is one century long and has given nothing but positive results, he explained.
The government instructed the Ministry of Education and Sport to prepare an appropriate legal document for that purpose, Loncar said.
A decision that students from Republika Srpska have the same rights as citizens of Serbia has already been made, Loncar recalled.
Also, Montenegrin citizens with a registered place of residence in Serbia will be given citizenship of the Republic of Serbia without having to renounce their Montenegrin citizenship, he said.
The government instructed the Ministry of Interior to prepare an appropriate legal document for that purpose, Loncar said.
