Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met with Ambassador of Cyprus to Serbia Andreas Fotiou, during which the traditionally good and friendly relations between the two countries and two peoples were confirmed.
Stating that Serbia fought with all its might against the adoption of the Resolution Proposal on Srebrenica, Đurić thanked Cyprus for the restrained attitude it had when voting on that proposal at the United Nations General Assembly.
The head of Serbian diplomacy also pointed out that Serbia extremely appreciates the principled position of Cyprus on issues of national interest for our country.
Speaking about traditionally good relations and deep roots of trust, which bind two states and two peoples, the interlocutors reiterated the clear positions of their countries regarding respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia and Cyprus.
Đurić emphasised that Serbia will not forget who were its friends in one of the most difficult moments in its modern history, and pointed out that it is necessary to further improve the cooperation between the two countries in all areas.
The interlocutors agreed that economic and economic intensification of cooperation will contribute to faster and stronger development and further prosperity of both countries.
Đurić and Fotiu expressed the hope that mutual official visits at the ministerial level will soon be implemented, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
