Slobodan Lalovic
Speaking at a press conference held after the government's session today, Lalovic said that with this law the entire field of the veterans and disability protection is being codified, because currently it is broken into at least ten regulations of different levels and from various periods.
He said that additional consultations had been carried out with associations of war veterans and disabled persons, after which an agreement on all solutions was made, as well as on the manner of adjusting their income.
The Minister said that according to this solution, in the next period the income of war veterans and the disabled persons should be adjusted quarterly, with the application of the "Swiss formula", as opposed to the current method of monthly adjustment according to salaries.
According to the Minister, the income of war veterans and invalids will be the only exception since the new law envisages that their income be adjusted 50% according to salaries and 50% according to the living costs, while all other wages paid out from the state budget will be entirely adjusted according to the living costs.
One of the solutions that has not existed so far is the formation of a separate housing fund for war veterans and invalids, and a Japanese donation will be used as the staring capital for construction of apartments, Lalovic said and added that the fund will be operational until all hosing issues of war veterans and the disabled are solved.
