The Ministry of Defence stated that the conference "New achievements of the EU in the areas of Common Security and Defence Policy" was opened in Belgrade today.
The conference is organised by the Directorate for European Integration and Project Management of the Defence Policy Sector of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of European Integration, with the support of the European Commission for Neighbourhood Policy and Negotiations.
Minister of European Integration Tanja Miscevic pointed out that Serbia, as a candidate country for EU membership, must follow the development, practice and legislation of the European Union in all areas, which certainly also applies to the improvement of security and defence policy.
Serbia shares European values and is ready to continue sharing EU values in every way, together with all member states, because it considers them to be its own, Miscevic pointed out.
Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Emanuele Giaufret pointed out that the EU has an intensive dialogue on defence and security policies with the countries of the Western Balkans, as they are future members of the Union.
The aim of the two-day conference is to present the changes within the Common Security and Defence Policy since the adoption of the Global Strategy for Foreign and Security Policy in 2016.
The focus of the conference is Serbia's contribution in this field, as well as looking at the possibilities for improving cooperation under the auspices of the Common Security and Defence Policy.
