Dulic-Markovic told a press conference that the agricultural budget was tripled and that 17 new measures which have over 5,000 beneficiaries were introduced with the aim of implementing strategic goals.
The credit support measures launched the creation of a system of market rural loans and enabled a significant increase in agricultural investment, she said. Dulic-Markovic specified that currently there are more than 50,000 borrowers of short-term loans and over 2,500 borrowers of long-term ones.
According to the Minister, the registers of agricultural farms and animals were established, which enabled direct payments of subsidies to farmers' accounts.
She said that the register of agricultural farms currently holds 190,000 producers and that it is linked to the system of banks which assist these farms with short and long-term loans.
Dulic-Markovic said that on March 15, a sum of two billion dinars in loans will be paid to the accounts of 16,500 registered farms.
She recalled that the Serbian Agricultural Market Information System (STIPS) was established and the work of the inspection service improved, in which process the number of inspection controls and reported violations has tripled.
According to Dulic-Markovic, the Ministry in the previous two years was reconstructed, new independent institutions for veterinary and phytosanitary control were formed, and separate sectors for analytics, statistics and agriculture policy, inspectional supervision and rural development were formed.
Dulic-Markovic said that in the previous period international cooperation in the area of agriculture was intensified, and presented the fact that the Ministry is currently working on six twining projects with the European Union, and also on three projects with the World Bank and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
She said that among positive results achieved is the resolution of the sugar problem that has once again become one of the most exported products of Serbia, as well as the establishment of foundations for changes in the system of cash incentives.
Dulic-Markovic said that this year the Ministry plans to adopt and begin implementation of the law on agricultural land, to adopt a national programme for agriculture and the law on agriculture, and to reform advisory services.
