International course for UN military observers organised

The Ministry of Defence announced that an international course for United Nations military observers was held at the "Jug" base near Bujanovac, which was attended by officers of the Serbian Armed Forces and armed forces from eight African and European countries.

The training was carried out in accordance with the procedures and standards of the United Nations, in order for the officers to be fully qualified to work as military observers in peace operations under the auspices of this international organization.

During the three-week training, participants were introduced to valid standard operating procedures and the most important aspects of the functioning of peacekeeping missions, and they had the opportunity to get practical training for work at observation posts, reconnaissance from land and from the air, and to improve negotiation skills and techniques.

The organiser of the course is the Centre for Peace Operations, and the teaching was carried out by a team of instructors from the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, with the support of the operational command of the Serbian Armed Forces and the engagement of instructors from partner training centers from Austria, Greece, Hungary and Germany, as well as guest lecturers from the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Red Cross of Serbia and specialised United Nations agencies for refugees and children.
