Speaking at a press conference, at which Aleksic presented results of the project of establishing a unique cadastre of immovables, he said that from a total of 21 million plots in Serbia, so far nearly 12 million have been registered, and added that the project is now entering its second phase, which means implementation, supervision and constant analysis of success.
He recalled that the project was initiated in 2002 by the Serbian government and the Serbian Geodetic Bureau with the goal of composing and modernising the cadastre of immovables, registration of property rights, making it easy to obtain mortgage loans, development of the real estate market and in support of EU association.
Aleksic said that the project, which was financially supported by the World Bank, the EU and the governments of Sweden, Germany and Norway, is worth nearly €30 million, while the deadline for its completion is 2010.
According to Aleksic, during 2006 it is planned to build-up the cadastre of immovables in 11 cadastral municipalities in Belgrade and in 31 cadastral municipalities in the interior of Serbia.
Speaking about the city municipalities, Aleksic said that the data from the land registers and the cadastre of immovables has been completely unified for 33 city municipalities, and most of the work has been done in New Belgrade, where 90 percent of plots have been registered.
