Memorandum on tourism cooperation in Western Balkans signed

Belgrade/Ohrid, 8 June 2022

Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matic, Albanian Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro Furxhi and Minister of Economy of North Macedonia Kreshnik Bekteshi signed today a Memorandum of understanding on tourism cooperation in the Western Balkans.

The memorandum between Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia was solemnly signed at the Open Balkans Summit in Ohrid, and the signing was also attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and Prime Minister of North Macedonia Dimitar Kovacevski.

The leaders of the countries initiators of this initiative - Vucic, Rama and Kovacevski - spoke at the opening ceremony of the Open Balkans Summit.

Montenegrin Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic, President of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zoran Tegeltija, EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar also addressed the audience.

In addition to the Memorandum of understanding on tourism cooperation in the Western Balkans, representatives of Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia also signed at the summit in Ohrid the Memorandum of understanding on cultural cooperation in the Western Balkans, the Memorandum of understanding on cooperation between tax administrations in the Western Balkans and the Agreement on cooperation in the Western Balkans in recognising diplomas and scientific titles issued by higher education institutions and other competent institutions.
