Loncar expressed gratitude for the help and support that Serbia received from the United States, worth $9.1 million, adding that the intangible aid, solidarity and unity we have with the United States are also important.
Serbia is doing everything to bring the virus under control – it has built three covid hospitals, two reference laboratories, provided five vaccines, equipment, respirators, Loncar reminded and emphasised that all that is not enough, because we cannot defeat the virus until we are all sure and vaccinated.
Godfrey said that this is the second phase of financial assistance for the fight against the virus, saying that health workers in Serbia and the world should have a rest, and that is why it is important that we all get vaccinated.
UNDP Resident Representative Francis Pickup said that, thanks to additional financial support from the US government, UNDP will support further medical research, education on threats to public health, development of IT solutions and equipping relevant national institutions.
Marijan Ivanusa, representative of the WHO, reminded that at least 5 million people have died from COVID-19 in the world so far, and that everything indicates that the fight is not even close to the end.
