The 21st World Boxing Championship was officially opened tonight with a spectacular ceremony at the Stark Arena in Belgrade.
The championship was opened by the president of the Boxing Association of Serbia, Nenad Borovcanin, and the first man of the World Boxing Federation (AIBA), Umar Kremlev.
The promoter of the championship is the famous champion Roy Jones Junior, as well as the famous Serbian actor Miloš Bikovic.
650 boxers from 103 countries will take part in the championship.
The flag of Serbia was carried by Veljko Gligoric at the opening ceremony, and the captain of Serbia, Vladan Babic, took the oath on behalf of the boxers.
For the first time in history, medal winners will have valuable cash prizes - $100,000 for gold, $50,000 for silver and $25,000 each for bronze medals.
