The Ministry of Youth and Sport announced today that the government, at the very beginning of the Olympic Games, passed the Decree on National Sports Recognitions and Cash Prizes which increased prizes for won medals.
The biggest cash prizes for medal winners in the history of Serbian sports amount to 70,000 euros for winning a gold medal, 60,000 euros for winning silver, and bronze medal winners will be awarded 50,000 euros each.
Minister Vanja Udovicic pointed out on that occasion that the state is always with our best athletes, which it has clearly shown during the previous year – first with ever greater help to the sports system in order to overcome the challenges of the pandemic, and now by drastically increasing rewards for medal winners.
According to him, the amount of the reward has been doubled in relation to the Olympic Games in London in 2012, and it is identical for the winners of medals in team and individual sports, as well as for the Olympians and Paralympians.
