Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic talked today in Vienna with Minister of European and International Affairs of Austria Alexander Schalenberg about bilateral cooperation and possibilities for its further improvement.
Selakovic estimated that the relations between Serbia and Austria are very good, that Austria is the second largest investor in the Serbian economy and that it has invested 2 billion 585 million euros in the last 10 years, emphasising that 733 Austrian companies employ 22,000 people.
Also, the Minister said that at the meetings he received information about new Austrian companies that are interested in investing in Serbia, and which have not been on the Serbian market so far.
He expressed gratitude to Chancellor Kurz, the Austrian government and his colleague Schallenberg for the strong support they provide to Serbia on our European path.
The head of Serbian diplomacy informed his Austrian colleague about the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, pointing out that our side is committed to dialogue, and that this is the only way to reach a solution.
The Minister also met with Federal Minister of the Interior of Austria Karl Nehammer, expressing his gratitude for the consistent support that the country provides to Serbia in the field of European integration.
He said that our country is a reliable partner of Austria in police cooperation, emphasising that the two countries have numerous common interests that are realized precisely through the cooperation of the ministries of the interior.
Selakovic emphasised that stability and security in the region is one of Serbia's priorities, which we show every day by engaging in the political, social and economic plan, as well as by participating in multilateral fora.
Serbia is determined to cooperate with European partners in the permanent solution of the problem of irregular migration and the fight against terrorism, the Minister pointed out and added that Serbia is recognized by the EU as a reliable and principled partner in the fight against irregular migration.
He said that European countries, in facing this challenge, should not only protect their market, but also their culture.
