President Aleksandar Vucic announced last night that the cornerstone for the construction of a new COVID hospital in Novi Sad, which will be built in four months, will be laid within 14 days.
In an interview for Pink Television, Vucic stated that the paperwork is being solved now, and specified that the hospital will have 600 new beds, of which 200 will be intensive care.
He added that the COVID hospital in Novi Sad will be built in the same way as the hospitals in Batajnica and Krusevac, and that it will be slightly larger than the Krusevac hospital.
The President said that it remains to be seen whether it will be necessary to vaccinate citizens maybe three or four times a year, noting that "Sinfoarm" and "Pfizer" are already going for the third vaccine.
He said that Serbia will certainly provide a third vaccine to the citizens if it is so decided, and reminded that our country will make vaccines itself.
The factory will be built not far from Nikola Tesla Airport, in Surcin, and it will produce 25 to 30 million doses of vaccines a year, Vucic pointed out and estimated that it would be enough to supply Serbia and the region.
He said that 1.1 million citizens have been revaccinated in Serbia so far, noting that the number of infected people is falling, as well as the number of people on respirators, although somewhat slower, while it takes more time to reduce the number of deaths.
The number of infected has been falling somewhat faster in the last 48 hours, the President said, adding that on Monday night last week, 31% were infected, while today that percentage is 22.8%.
We will see in the coming days whether this trend will continue. If this pace continues, then I believe that there is a chance for further abolition of measures and for a freer life. That is good news, Vucic said.
The President of Serbia confirmed that he would receive the Chinese "Sinofarm" vaccine in Rudna glava today, and expressed gratitude to the Chinese for delivering another half a million vaccines to us.
I believe that a large number of people in Serbia will accept vaccination, because that saves us, concluded Vucic.
