State Secretary of the Ministry of Health Mirsad Djerlek stated today that the plan is to have a million citizens in Serbia in the next 15 days who have received both doses of the coronavirus vaccine.
In a statement for K1 Television, Djerlek pointed out that the goal is for that number to be two and a half million by the end of June, and reminded that we are expected to purchase 1.8 million new doses of vaccines.
The State Secretary emphasised that a good vaccination system was organized in our country and that 2.2 million doses were given, stating that Serbia is ahead of Germany in terms of the number of vaccinated people per million inhabitants.
He pointed out that the epidemic measures gave results in the sense that the number of infected people did not drastically increase, although an even larger number of infected and hospitalized people is expected these days.
Djerlek warned that very soon there will be more than 7,000 people in COVID hospitals, adding that the spread of the British strain of the virus is inevitable, because it is mostly transmitted through young people.
With 2.5 million vaccinated, we will be able to breathe easier. I urge young people to respond to vaccinations. We must not allow such work and success of citizens and the state to fail, said Djerlek.
