A new consignment of the Russian vaccine against the coronavirus Sputnik V arrived today at Belgrade Nikola Tesla airport.
An Air Serbia aircraft brought 100,000 doses of Sputnik V from Moscow.
Minister without portfolio in charge of innovation and technological development Nenad Popovic said in a statement to the media at the Belgrade airport that the vaccines that arrived today were produced in the Generium factory in Vladimir Oblast in the Russian Federation.
He stated that the vaccines were delivered in 19 special containers in order to be stored at the required temperature and from Nikola Tesla Airport they will be sent to the Torlak Institute, from where they will be distributed among the vaccination centres.
The Minister pointed out that the supply of vaccines from the Russian Federation will continue, as well as that new quantities will arrive every week, and conveyed gratitude to the government of that country, to President Vladimir Putin, the Generium factory and the Gamaleya Research Institute.
Popovic reminded that Serbia, together with its Russian partners - the Direct Investment Fund and the Ministry of Industry, will establish the production of the Sputnik V vaccine at the Torlak Institute and expressed confidence that the first doses will be produced by 17 May.
