New epidemiological measures in force as of tonight at 9 pm

Belgrade, 12 March 2021

The Serbian government adopted today, at the proposal of the COVID-19 Crisis Response Team, new measures to suppress the epidemic, which refer to the upcoming weekend (13-14 March).

The decision was made that from Friday, 12 March from 9 pm to Monday, 15 March at 6 am, all cafes and restaurants will be closed, as well as all shops (except grocery stores), beauty parlours, hair salons, bookmakers, casinos, children's playrooms, gyms, sports facilities ...

From Monday, higher grades of the primary school will switch to online classes, while secondary schools will continue with online lessons in the next week too.

The facilities to which the prohibition of work for the upcoming weekend does not apply are the following:

Pharmacies, doctor's offices, laboratories, dental and veterinary clinics
Shops where food is sold
Independent retail facilities where shopping is done without entering the facility - kiosks and newsagents
Facilities and shops where services are provided that do not require long-term presence of customers and where the contact is of limited duration, such as shoemakers, glass cutters, tailor shops
Gas stations in the performance of the activity of selling fuel
Restaurants and bars within hotels and other categorised accommodation exclusively for guests who have a registered stay in that hotel
Sports facilities for the preparation and holding of registered competitions within the competent national sports federations

Important notice: counters selling food in restaurants and counters selling coffee and beverages in bars at promenades are not allowed.

The competent authorities, inspection services and community police will exercise strict control over the observance of epidemiological measures during the weekend. The Serbian government once again urges all citizens to respect all epidemiological measures and appeals to their personal responsibility.

Vaccination against the infectious disease COVID-19 will take place without interruption, according to a pre-determined plan, so that the new measures do not endanger the immunisation process in any way.
