Speaking at a regular press briefing of the COVID-19 Crisis Response Team, Gojkovic presented the current data on coronavirus in Serbia, specifying that 398,652 citizens have been cured in our country so far, and that the number of active cases at the moment is 26,104.
The Provincial Health Secretary stated that all inspections were on the ground during the holidays and that 1,581 inspections were made in four days, pointing out that it is worrying that most of the measures were violated in large cities and winter resorts - Divcibare, Zlatibor and Kopaonik.
In the past few weeks, we have managed to find a balance between fighting the epidemic and maintaining a normal pace of life, but due to a group of irresponsible individuals, we can go back to the situation where much tougher measures are necessary and we don't want that, he warned.
Director of the Clinic for Anaesthesiology of the Clinical Center of Nis Radmilo Jankovic said that the number of those infected and the number of patients on hospital treatment is high and that the health system is still facing a great challenge.
According to him, in the last two to three weeks, the number of hospitalised patients has stagnated or is slightly increasing, which is a huge burden for the health system, because COVID hospitals cannot return to the regular mode of operation.
He said that at today's meeting of the Minister of Health with directors of COVID hospitals, an agreement was reached that the hospitals in Batajnica and Krusevac become the central places for the treatment of coronavirus patients and added that a redistribution of health personnel must be done in order to strengthen teams in these two COVID hospitals.
