President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic delivered today to Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia Zoran Zaev the first consignment of coronavirus vaccines that Serbia donates to that country.
At the Tabanovce border crossing, Zaev welcomed Vucic, who handed him over 4,688 doses of the Pfizer vaccine necessary for the immunisation of citizens of Northern Macedonia against the coronavirus.
Vucic said that Pfizer asked for the vaccines to be handed over according to all procedures, noting that this consignment is approximately half of the previously agreed 8,000 doses that Serbia will give to Northern Macedonia.
He said that the handover was originally supposed to take place on Thursday, but it was postponed by three days due to the necessity of procuring additional technical documentation.
The President of Serbia expressed his gratitude to Pfizer, which enabled the export of vaccines to Northern Macedonia under very strict procedures.
Vucic expressed satisfaction with the fact that Northern Macedonia can now also start
immunisation and underlined that Serbia has no other interests than showing friendship towards the citizens of that country.
We want nothing else but that our friendship grows and that we increase economic cooperation and that we live, not only as the closest neighbours, but also as best friends, the President of Serbia said.
He voiced hope that through the "Mini Schengen" initiative we will be able to move further towards mutual rapprochement, which will bring a better life to our citizens.
Vucic added that the health workers who participated in the vaccination process in Serbia will receive additional support of RSD 10,000.
Zaev expressed gratitude to the President of Serbia, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar for obtaining the consent from Pfizer and providing first aid in vaccines to Northern Macedonia, which means a lot to his country.
He also thanked the Serbian people for the huge solidarity they showed, noting that medical workers in COVID centres will be immunised with vaccines from Serbia.
According to him, today's donation of vaccines is an expression of friendship, solidarity and support of Serbia to Northern Macedonia, which that country will not forget.
