Epidemiologist and member of the COVID-19 crisis response team Predrag Kon stated today that this body is thinking about tightening measures because the gradual deterioration of the epidemiological situation in the country is evident.
At the press conference, Kon pointed out that we still do not have clear and sufficient data to be able to insist on that, but what can be expected after the extended weekend due to the celebration of the Statehood Day are the consequences that will be seen only later.
He said that if the number of infected people increases after the holidays, we will all be responsible together, and that the position of the COVID-19 crisis response team is clear that there is no talk of easing the measures.
Everyone who goes to any place to spend the winter should know that the risk of infection is increased, Kon emphasised and said that it is necessary to respect all measures in order to reduce that risk.
At the same time, he announced that 126,149 people have been revaccinated in Serbia so far, a total of 710,138 doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been given so far, and the total number of those who received only the first dose is 583,989.
Commander of the Karaburma Military Hospital Ivo Udovicic told the citizens to be careful during the upcoming national holiday, to take care and not to make their lives bitter for a few moments of satisfaction, which is why they will regret it.
Udovicic warned that in the last two weeks, the number of patients in hospitals has been growing again, and that is what worries him, stating that the capacities of the institution he heads are full.
According to him, the relaxation of people led to that, but also vaccination, because people behave as if they are protected after the first dose.
