After a meeting of directors of COVID hospitals with the Minister of Health, Stevanovic said that all COVID hospitals are starting to reduce capacity and create space for non-COVID patients.
We will try to make Zvezdara Clinical Hospital Centre exit the COVID system and open to non-COVID patients as soon as possible, he announced and explained that this will take some time as this hospital is still used at its full capacity as COVID hospital.
That will not happen in two or three days, but it is good news that we are heading in that direction, Stevanovic said and underlined that the main task is to help with the inoculation of the general population. He added that vaccination teams will be formed in all hospitals soon.
Until now, the main burden of organisation of the vaccination has been borne by the Institute of Public Health of Serbia “Dr. Milan Jovanovic Batut”, the Ministry of Health, local institutes of public health and community health centres.
The training of colleagues and teams from hospitals and clinical hospital centres will start today and in a very short time, vaccination teams will be formed in all hospitals, Stevanovic underlined.
Infectious disease expert and member of the COVID-19 Crisis Response Team Mijomir Pelemis stated that creating panic among citizens regarding the new British strain of the coronavirus should be avoided and underlined that prevention and vaccination continue to be crucial in the fight against the pandemic.
