Vaccination of health workers against the coronavirus has started today in Serbia, with the medical staff at the Serbian Clinical Centre being the first ones to receive the shot.
State Secretary at the Ministry of Health Mirsad Djerlek stated that approximately 3,000 health workers will be vaccinated today, of whom 1,200 in Belgrade alone.
We will receive the vaccine on Monday too, so we will try to increase the number of people who have received the vaccine on a weekly basis, Djerlek said and added that there is a great interest in inoculation among health workers due to the fact that they are on the front line and know what COVID-19 is.
We have lost many colleagues during the epidemic and we want to prevent more people from getting infected and protect the health system. The fight with the coronavirus is not over, but now we have a powerful weapon, the State Secretary said.
The employees of the Batajnica COVID hospital will be vaccinated tomorrow.
