Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar stated in Novi Sad that the vaccination of health workers began today and that those working in infectious diseases clinics and emergency centres have already been vaccinated.
Answering the questions of journalists, after opening the reconstructed Clinic for Internal Diseases and visiting the beginning of works on the construction of B and C blocks of the Clinical Centre of Vojvodina, Loncar pointed out that the interest of health workers in vaccination is much greater than possibilities.
The Minister pointed out that the priority are health workers in the red zones and those who work in infectious diseases clinics, as well as in the departments for patient admission.
People will be vaccinated according to the priority list as the vaccines arrive. Pfizer's vaccine will be arriving on a weekly basis, as well as the Russian and some other vaccines too, he explained.
The seasonal flu has still not appeared, the Minister said, but each outpatient clinic has enough imported tetravalent flue shots and the trivalent ones produced by the Institute Torlak.
He pointed out that a wider vaccination against seasonal flu could prevent its collision with the coronavirus in the period from January to March.
The Minister of Health said that the first contingent of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik V of 2,400 doses arrived in Serbia today, and that vaccination with that vaccine could start when it passes the necessary procedures at the Serbian Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices and the Institute Torlak.
If everything goes well with those checks, from January 2, 3 or 4, when all the conditions are met, the vaccination with that vaccine will start, Loncar said.
