Provincial Secretary of Health and member of the COVID-19 Crisis Response Team Zoran Gojkovic announced today that all measures that have been in force so far will remain until further notice.
Gojkovic said at a coronavirus press briefing that the weekend ahead of us will be the same as the previous one in terms of measures, stating that the team today discussed further restrictive measures and concluded that their introduction will depend on the epidemiological situation.
At this moment, we have managed to flatten the contagion curve and, depending on the number of new patients, we will make further decisions, he explained and reiterated that from 20 December, everyone entering the territory of Serbia will have to have a negative PCR test. As for Serbian citizens, if they cannot provide one, they will have to quarantine.
What is new is that as of 21 December, the working hours of institutions of culture will be prolonged to 9pm, Gojkovic stated.
According to him, the first contingent of Pfizer vaccine is expected to arrive in Serbia during the next week and added that the analysis of the Russian vaccine “Sputnik V” is being performed at the same time.
Answering the question of reporters whether the state is considering the purchase of the Russian “Light Sputnik" vaccine, which creates immunity from three to four months and is 85% effective, he said that if our expert services estimate that it would be useful for the citizens, the state will do everything to buy it.
As for the license for the import of the Pfizer vaccine, Gojkovic pointed out that additional testing will be needed in the National Laboratory at the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices, after which we will be able to offer the vaccine to all interested citizens in the manner prescribed by law.
