More and more patients with severe clinical picture

Member of the COVID-19 Crisis Response Team and Director of the Infectious Diseases Clinic of the Clinical Centre of Serbia Goran Stevanovic said today that among coronavirus patients there is an increasing number of those with moderate and severe clinical picture.

After the meeting of Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar with the directors of COVID hospitals, Stevanovic said that the number of patients is still large.

Comparing this weekend with the previous one, he said that the situation has not changed, except that we now have a hospital in Batajnica, where 360 COVID patients are hospitalised in two and a half days of work, of which approximately 90 are in intensive care.

Director of the Clinical-Hospital Centre "Dr Dragisa Misovic" Vladimir Djukic warned that the health system is overburdened and appealed to the citizens to trust the doctors.

Our capacities for places that require ventilatory support are large, but patients are difficult and require a large absorption of staff and all resources, Djukic pointed out.

This Clinical-Hospital Centre is treating 20 children with 20 mothers, and there are many complicated pregnant women in pregnancy who require treatment by infectologists, gynaecologists, pulmonologists, but the clinical pictures are more difficult than in the previous period, he explained.

Director of Clinical-Hospital Centre "Zvezdara" Petar Svorcan reported that 405 COVID patients are currently hospitalised in that institution, of whom 50 are in intensive care, and 24 have been intubated.
