COVID hospital in Batajnica to start working tomorrow

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said today that the beginning of work of the new COVID hospital in Batajnica is a historic day for Serbia in every sense and stated that our country and the health system will come out stronger from the whole situation with the coronavirus.

Brnabic said that Serbia is a getting a new hospital in the most difficult moment, when a daily influx of new infected patients is huge, with over 800 daily hospitalisations, and all that in a health system that has been continously under pressure for nine months already.

We are getting a hospital when we most need it, the Prime Minister underlined and added that €80 million has been invested in new hospitals and equipment in Serbia.

She recalled that a corner stone for the Batajnica hospital was laid on 1 August, when the situation regarding coronavirus looked calm.

Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar said that the Batajnica hospital will have 250 beds at the intensive care unit and this is showing how much it will relieve other hospitals.

The Batajnica COVID hospital has a total of 930 beds, of which 680 at semi-intensive and 250 at intensive care unit.

The hospital will have nine large wards with 30 to 40 beds each and will admit patients with moderate and severe clinical condition.
