Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs and a member of the COVID-19 Crisis Response Team Darija Kisic Tepavcevic stated today that 796 of the total number of newly infected cases are from Belgrade.
Speaking at a coronavirus press briefing of the Crisis Response Team, Kisic Tepavcevic specified that 121 patients are currently hospitalised in the temporary COVID hospital "Stark Arena", of whom 23 were admitted in the last 24 hours.
She pointed out that another 111 cases were confirmed in Novi Sad, 52 in Kragujevac, 44 in Valjevo, 41 in Kraljevo, 29 in Nis, 23 in Pozarevac and 21 in Loznica.
According to her, other cities have less than 20 newly infected, while most cities have had sporadic cases.
The Minister pointed out that since the beginning of the school year, cases of coronavirus have been confirmed among school children on the territory of 19 districts, most of them in Belgrade - 103.
It should be pointed out that there are 11 districts where the spread of coronavirus in schools was not recorded, nor any school child tested positive, said Kisic Tepavcevic and added that in the institutions of social protection, coronavirus was confirmed in 61 residents and 59 employees in a total of 28 institutions.
Head of the Military Medical Centre “Karaburma” Ivo Udovicic stated that the situation in that hospital is difficult and that a total of 65 patients were hospitalised.
He warned that beds are quickly filled by patients with a very serious clinical condition, with half requiring oxygen therapy and 11 patients are in the intensive care unit.
So far, we have not had a situation where more than 20 percent of those hospitalised are in the intensive care unit, said Udovicic, explaining that one of the reasons for this is that the coronavirus has already entered hospitals.
