Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar stated today that the number of coronavirus cases in Serbia is increasing, as well as the number of hospitalisations.
After a meeting with directors of COVID hospitals, Loncar said that a temporary hospital at “Stark Arena” started admitting patients yesterday afternoon and that there are 15 patients at the moment.
He explained that the coronavirus patients in a less severe condition will be transferred from the clinical hospital centres “Dr Dragisa Misovic”, “Karaburma” and “Bezanijska Kosa” and from the Clinic for Infectious Diseases of the Clinical Centre of Serbia to “Stark Arena”.
The necessary gas installations have been placed in this temporary hospital in order to be able to treat the most severe cases, the Minister said and urged all citizens to check in to COVID outpatient clinics as soon as they feel the first symptoms.
He added that COVID hospitals are in preparation in Batajnica and Krusevac with 1,000 beds each, in which over 1,000 health and non-medical workers will be employed.
Loncar said that the Ministry of Health is following all developments regarding coronavirus in the region and Europe and noted that Serbia still has a good result, but that everything can change if preventive measures are not respected.
