Deputy Director of the Institute of Public Health "Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut" Darija Kisic Tepavcevic announced today that more than half of those infected in the last 24 hours are from Belgrade, or a total of 66 people.
At the press conference of the COVID-19 response team, Kisic Tepavcevic specified that 18 infected students with coronavirus were reported in primary and secondary schools last week, and a total of 80 positive students.
She especially emphasised the importance of wearing masks in public transport, and added that there is no hot spot that is related to a certain location and there is no proven spread of the infection in commercial facilities.
Director of the Institute for Orthopedics "Banjica" Zoran Bascarevic reminded that "Banjica" was out of usual regime twice this year, and that last year it performed 13,000 operations, and this year barely 5,000.
Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic stated that in two days, the control of wearing protective masks in 125 public transport vehicles was performed and that 15 reports were written for non-compliance with that protection measure.
Also, as he added, since 30 July, 5,649 catering facilities have been controlled, with 183 misdemeanour reports and 105 reports to the court for misdemeanors for non-compliance with measures.
According to him, it is noticeable that there are no infected people from economic activities, but that the infections happened in restaurants, at parties, which, as he assessed, is very important because we have to find a measure between protecting public health and making the economy work.
