Epidemiologist Predrag Kon announced today that a slight increase in the number of people infected with coronavirus has been recorded in Belgrade, but that the situation is still stable, so that vigilance and alertness have increased for now.
At the press conference of the crisis response team, Kon pointed out that he always thinks very seriously about when and on what occasion to apply stricter measures.
He said that a very slight increase in hospitalisations and reports to triage centers must be monitored, which is a significant signal, because it indicates that more serious cases are appearing.
As he emphasised, as soon as more new cases of infection appear, it is important to react quickly and take immediate measures, and as an example he cited the reintroduction of the emergency situation in Trstenik, in which two new cases of infection were discovered in the last 24 hours.
Kon pointed out that the key to preventing the appearance of possible hotspots and the spread of the virus is a quick reaction and tightening of measures, noting that the largest number of infected people is still in Belgrade.
He also pointed out that nothing was ever hidden from the data regarding the coronavirus and that everything that was available was published.
Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar said that it was up to the local self-governments to react at "zero moment", reminding that the measures were tightened in Kragujevac on the day when 50 percent more examinations were noticed in kovid clinics, which gave results.
Loncar pointed out that there are some areas, that is, cities where the number of infected is increasing, which is why he appealed to the crisis headquarters in Nis, Kraljevo, Trstenik and Vranje to take appropriate measures immediately.
The Minister pointed out that it takes time to reach the exact number of people who died from the coronavirus, and added that they would insist on a revision.
Infectious disease specialist Mijomir Pelemis appealed to citizens to be vaccinated against the flu, explaining that the clinical picture of the patient would be much more difficult if he had both coronavirus and flu at the same time.
