Provincial Secretary of Health Zoran Gojkovic stated today at the press conference of the COVID-19 crisis response team that 106 patients have been taken care of in hospitals in the last 24 hours while 83 have been discharged.
Gojkovic added that 160 health workers are currently infected with the coronavirus, with four of them in hospital, while the others have a milder clinical picture.
The Provincial Secretary of Health said that the epidemiological situation in Novi Pazar is under control and that there are currently four patients in the Infectious Diseases Department of the General Hospital in that city.
The situation in the city can be considered stable, and in the last five days there were five newly infected with coronavirus, said Gojkovic and emphasised that, although the situation in that city can be considered epidemiologically good, it does not mean that the citizens of Novi Pazar can celebrate, because we are far from a final victory.
It is a great incentive that the measures proposed by the crisis response team gave results, Gojkovic emphasised, pointing out that respect for these measures and discipline lead us to a successful end to the epidemic.
The Provincial Secretary for Health expressed his gratitude to the citizens who understood what kind of time we live in and who support the work of the team, the government of Serbia and health workers.
Deputy Director of the Institute of Public Health of Serbia "Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut" Darija Kisic Tepavcevic pointed out that since the beginning of the crisis caused by COVID-19, Serbia has done a total of 12,900 tests per 100,000 inhabitants, which is the most in the region and four times more than in Croatia.
If we compare with the countries in the region, we can see that the number in Romania, for example, is 8,700 per 100,000 inhabitants, said Kisic Tepavcevic, who was asked to comment on the fact that information appeared in the world media that we test drastically more than other countries.
