Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar stated today that, since the last report, samples of 8,395 people have been tested, of which 311 are positive for coronavirus.
At the press conference of the COVID-19 crisis response team, Loncar said that a total of 26,193 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been registered in our country so far, while 146 patients are using ventilation.
Eight people have died in the last 24 hours, Loncar said, adding that a total of 686,488 people have been tested since the beginning of the epidemic.
The Minister pointed out that the number of health workers infected with the coronavirus is decreasing and that there are now 618 of them, and that 69 of them are hospitalised.
Loncar appealed to the citizens to go to the baths in a limited number and to respect the prescribed measures of distancing and wearing a mask, because, as he stated, the next step of the institutions is to limit the number of people in those places.
According to him, more than 70 percent of the hospitals have been turned into COVID hospital, and the goal is to return everything to the normal system, which is not possible until the number of patients is reduced.
According to him, the reduction of the number of COVID patients can be achieved only by respecting measures and changing habits.
Infectious disease specialist Mijomir Pelemis called on the media to help by truthfully informing the public, pointing out that the number of examinations and inpatients has been reduced, but that there are still a large number of patients in intensive care units.
Director of the Centre for Anaesthesia and Resuscitation of the Clinical Centre of Serbia Nebojsa Ladjevic appealed to the population to respect all measures and thus help reduce the number of patients in intensive care.
By reducing the number of infected patients with complications, our healthcare staff will be able to rest. We will thus give a chance to reduce the results in our work and prepare for the new events that will follow in the fall and winter, Ladjevic pointed out and noted that the situation in intensive care is stable and under control.
