Deputy Director of the Institute for Public Health "Milan Jovanovic Batut" Darija Kisic Tepavcevic said today that we are at a turning point, in which the epidemic curve is expected to go downwards.
At the press conference of the COVID-19 crisis response team, Kisic Tepavcevic said that now is the moment when everyone should gather strength and more than ever adhere to preventive measures and contribute to putting an end to the epidemics as soon as possible.
Speaking about the current epidemiological data, she pointed out that we have favourable parameters that are optimistic and show that fewer and fewer patients have a clinical picture that requires hospitalication, as well as a smaller number of patients who address the COVID centres.
In recent weeks, quite stable numbers of laboratory-confirmed cases have been recorded, with an extremely large number of tested ones, she said.
Scientific advisor from the "Vinca" Institute Sanja Glisic stated that the latest scientific research has shown that the symptoms of those infected with coronavirus who wore the mask are significantly weaker than those infected who did not wear it.
Glisic said that the research also showed that the virus is not only transmitted by droplets, but also by aerosol, i.e., by air.
