Provincial Health Secretary Zoran Gojkovic stated today at a press briefing of the COVID-19 Crisis Response Team that currently the ratio between the patients admitted to hospitals and those discharged have been stabilised.
Gojkovic pointed out that the current epidemiological data show that a rapid growth in new cases has been stopped in the whole country, adding that now it is imperative that we respect all protective measures and reduce the number of new cases, by which the number of hospitalised patients would decrease too.
According to Gojkovic, the epidemiological situation in Vojvodina, as in the rest of Serbia can be described as unfavourable.
He specified that out of 723 new cases in Vojvodina confirmed over the past week 387 are in Novi Sad alone which, as a big city, is most exposed to transmission.
In this context, Gojkovic also mentioned Sremska Mitrovica, Kikinda, Sombor, Subotica, Ruma and Vrbas.
Commenting on the claims of the World Health Organization that the situation in the Western Balkans is worrying, the Provincial Secretary stated that the success of each country against COVID-19 can be evaluated once the epidemic is over.
All countries in this region fought very successfully in the first round of the epidemic and then we had all together, and first and foremost Serbia, the lowest mortality rate and added that our country was the first one that ended successfully the first round.
