Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated today that during the entire fight against the coronavirus pandemic, there has been no person in Serbia that had not received ventilatory support if he or she needed it.
Speaking at a press briefing of the COVID-19 Crisis Response Team, Brnabic dismissed the claims that one person died at the Zemun Clinical Hospital Centre because there was no ventilators available.
She underlined that Serbia had enough ventilators at all times and added that there are currently 1,030 of these devices at the central warehouse.
The Prime Minister said that the state has done everything so that health workers do not have to choose which patient to save because they do not have enough ventilators.
Brnabic said that the authorities will continue fighting despite all attacks because they know what they are fighting for – for lives and the health of the nation.
We are doing our best, this is the most important fight and the greatest crisis that has hit the world since World War II. We are proud of everything we have done until now, the Prime Minister underlined.
Speaking about the current epidemiological situation in the country, she said that the situation continues to be most complex and difficult in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac and Sabac.
However, it is encouraging that the situation is stably looking up in Novi Pazar, Tutin and Sjenica.
The Prime Minister said that as far as she knows there are no problems in Serbia with false PCR tests and added that it is easy to check those tests because they are done only by reference laboratories.
Brnabic said that in Serbia it is easy to check if someone got tested and what their result is.
Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar underlined that there are enough beds in COVID hospitals in Serbia and that it is encouraging that there are more patients who have been cured and discharged from hospital than those who are admitted to hospital for treatment.
Loncar specified that, for example, in the Zemun Clinical Hospital Centre 50 patients have been discharged and 46 admitted, in the Pancevo hospital 24 patients have been discharged and 16 admitted, whereas in the Zvezdara Clinical Hospital Centre 23 have been discharged and 16 admitted.
He pointed out that our health system has enough hospital capacities, medical workers, medicines and equipment.
We have redirected all capacities so that we are ready for every scenario, even if there is a sudden spike in cases, Loncar concluded.
