Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar announced today that according to the latest data, 70 health workers became ill with COVID-19 and are hospitalised, while another 500 tested positive for coronavirus and are in isolation.
At the regular press conference of the COVID-19 crisis response team, Loncar stated that 3,225 patients have been examined in Belgrade in the last 24 hours.
He stated that in the last 24 hours, 8,659 people have been tested, of whom 344 tested positive, while 13 patients passed away.
According to him, to date, a total of 507,002 patients have been tested in Serbia, the total number of deaths is 418, and the number of active cases is 4,574.
These data speak for themselves about how serious the situation is, the Minister emphasised and reiterated that the hospital capacities in Belgrade are at the maximum, ie that the occupancy in all COVID hospitals in the capital is higher than 90 percent.
Loncar announced that during the day, the Institute of Rheumatology will start working with additional capacities, with more than 100 beds.
According to him, visits are underway in hospitals, as well as in the "Stark Arena", on the basis of which it will be seen how many patients will be able to be discharged today, so that new ones can be admitted.
He reminded that patients from Belgrade are sent to Smederevo, Pozarevac, Smederevska Palanka and hospitals in other cities, which is a necessary measure in order for everyone to receive adequate care.
