Zvezdara, Zemun hospitals returning to COVID system

Belgrade, 2 July 2020

Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar stated today that due to the large number of people infected with coronavirus, the clinical hospital centres Zvezdara and Zemun are completely returning to the COVID system.

At the meeting with the directors of the COVID hospitals, Loncar stated that the entire Zemun hospital will be turned into an infectious hospital over the weekend, and that there will be a reception-triage service that will have an infectologist.

Also, as he said, the Institute for Orthopedic and Surgical Diseases "Banjica" is being emptied for the weekend, so that from next week it will be available for the reception of COVID patients.

The Minister also pointed out that the capacities of "Dr Dragisa Misovic" hospital are 90 percent full, and at the Infectious Diseases Clinic is 95 percent full, and that today patients who need hospital treatment will be received by Zvezdara and Bezanijska kosa.

According to him, if there is a need, the hospitals in Smederevo, Smederevska Palanka, Pozarevac and Arandjelovac will be hospitals for accommodating COVID-19 positive patients.
