Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated today that 70 percent of the total number of coronavirus cases in Serbia are in Belgrade, and that the capital records by far the largest number of new cases on a daily basis.
In a statement to Television Prva, Brnabic said that because of that, the COVID-19 Crisis Response Team made a decision on 29 June on the obligatory use of masks in closed spaces, especially on public transport, but that for now the introduction of stricter measures is not planned as that would be disastrous for the economy.
She pointed out that there are not enough inspectors who would check if everyone adheres to the measures, which is why personal responsibility is important.
If we introduce such restrictive measures as those that we had in March and April, then we will no longer have an economic problem because we will no longer have an economy, Brnabic pointed out.
Regarding the situation with the epidemic in Novi Pazar, the Prime Minister stated that there have certainly been omissions in that city and that she is not shunning responsibility.
She underlined that additional medical teams have been sent to Novi Pazar to support Tutin as well, noting that funds were transferred today to Novi Pazar General Hospital for the purchase of two more ambulances in order to help Tutin.
